Temperatureblanket 2023 – All done!

I’m very proud of myself, I cast off this blanket om New Year’s Eve! I only had a few ends to sew in, but had to wait as little son was sick with a fever. But now, the ends are sewn in AND I’ve knitted and sewn on the 2023-sign!

The biggest challenge the past days has been the weather. We’ve had much colder than normal in Gothenburg and it’s been really difficult to get enough daylight to take decent photos. I might update with some better ones later.

I have not blocked my blanket. I have absolutely no space to block such a big thing, so the edges rolls a little. It doesn’t bother me, but if you have better space for blocking, just do it :).

You can find the pattern for the Temperatureblanket HERE on my blog. I made it originally for the yarn Scheepjes Soft fun, but it works great without adaptations for Arwetta that I used for 2023. I wrote a blogpost when I originally started this blanket a year ago that can be worth reading if you want to make a similar, HERE.

So here’s a summary of the yarn I used for my blanket. The temperature of every year differs, but it might give you a hint of what you might need if you use the same degrees and yarn. I used Filcolana Arwetta from Favoritgarner (check out the yarn HERE, and you can also buy different yarnpacks for the temperatureblanket HERE). Arwetta is a lovely sockyarn, but works great for a blanket. I held the yarn double as I thought it would be a too thin blanket otherwise (and to get the correct size I would have had to cast on so many stitches that a row would take forever to knit!).

Temperatur, colornumber and number rows and started balls used. (1 ball was enough for 18-20 rows)

+27 and above: 361 (1 rows, 1 ball)
+25,0 – + 26,9: 813 (3 rows, 1 ball)
+23,0 – +24,9: 810 (6 rows, 1 ball)
+21,0 – +22,9: 807 (12 rows, 1 ball)
+19,0 – +20,9: 236 (41 rows, 3 balls)
+17,0 – +18,9: 373 (49 rows, 3 balls)
+15,0 – +16,9: 363 (30 rows, 2 balls)
+13,0 – +14,9: 136 (15 rows, 1 ball)
+11,0 – +12,9: 827 (16 rows, 1 ball)
+9,0 – +10,9: 809 (26 rows, 2 balls)
+7,0 – +8,9: 148 (26 rows, 2 balls)
+5,0 – +6,9: 726 (43 rows, 3 balls)
+3,0 – +4,9: 811 (31 rows, 2 balls)
+1,0 – +2,9: 808 (28 rows, both cast on- and cast off rows, 2 balls)
-1,0 – +0,9: 812 (15 rows, 1 ball)
-1,1 and colder: 971 (17 rows, 1 ball)

The blanket measures approximately 110 x 144 cm, unstretched and unblocked. (If you use Arwetta and block it, it most likely will grow as it is a superwash yarn and it grows with blocking.) I think it’s the perfect size to cozy up with on the couch.

For the 2023-sign I used white Arwetta held double. You can read more about it in THIS blogpost. I embroidered the text on after I had knitted the piece. With the chart from the temperatureblankets from 2018 and 2019 I think you can make one for 2023 with the below 3. Or make your own numbers, it’s supereasy and fun and they probably will look better than mine 🙂

Would love to hear all about your knitted temperatureblanketjourneys. Have you made any? Are you planning to? Do you need a peptalk? 🙂
